Working alongside our client, a specialist injection moulding manufacturer, we are looking for an Injection Mould Toolmaker to join their team.
As a Toolmaker you will be responsible for the assembly, servicing and modification of injection mould tooling from base components using handheld tools or machines if required. This role would suit skilled Injection Moulding Toolmakers; however, CNC Machinists, Technicians and Precision Engineers will also be considered as training and development can be offered.
Responsibilities
- The successful Toolmaker will manufacture new injection mould tools from technical drawings and 3D CAD data to a high level of workmanship in an efficient and cost-effective manner.
- Repair, modify and maintain existing production tooling.
- Fully hardened steel production tools.
- Operate all toolroom plant and machinery safely ensuring necessary protective clothing and equipment is used at all times.
- Maintain a high standard of cleanliness in the toolroom.
- Suggest any possible improvements to tooling or processes.
- Log completed tool maintenance and repair work using the systems and databases provided.
- Ensure correct marking and labelling of tools.
- Be proactive in suggesting improvements in productivity and efficiency, part of the continual improvement program.
- Good housekeeping (5S) – ensure that the factory and surrounding areas are kept tidy and within health and safety guidelines.
Requirements
- Engineering Qualification / Time Served Apprenticeship.
- Have strong mechanical aptitude and problem-solving skills.
- Previous injection moulding or press tool making/maintenance experience.
- Enthusiastic, self-motivated, work on own initiative or within a small tooling team.
- General understanding of how to safely operate toolroom equipment and machinery.
- Have excellent attention to detail and precision.
- Experience in interpreting engineering drawings both 2D and 3D.
- Computer literate with experience of using MS Excel, MS Word & Power.
