We are partnering with a high-growth, PE-backed healthcare technology business to appoint a newly created Finance Director as the group enters its next phase of growth. The business has grown rapidly in recent years and has an ambitious plan to scale both organically and through acquisitions, expanding its product offering, customer base and geographic footprint.
As the business continues to scale, the CFO is becoming increasingly focused on strategy, M&A, investors and the wider growth agenda. As a result, the Finance Director will become the CFO's key deputy and take ownership of the day-to-day leadership and performance of the finance function. This is a broad role combining financial leadership, FP&A, commercial finance, controls, cash management, transformation and M&A integration.
The Role
Reporting directly to the CFO, you will take responsibility for a finance team of seven and ensure the function has the processes, controls, systems and capability required to support a rapidly scaling PE-backed organisation. You will:
- Take ownership of the day-to-day finance function, allowing the CFO to focus increasingly on strategy, investors and M&A.
- Lead, develop and mentor a 7-person finance team, including FP&A, Finance Manager, Management Accountants, AP, AR and Treasury.
- Own the monthly management reporting and close process, ensuring accurate and timely reporting across the group.
- Lead the annual budgeting and forecasting cycle, working closely with FP&A and operational leaders.
- Develop insightful KPIs, dashboards and management information to improve decision-making.
- Partner with senior leadership to understand revenue, margins, customer performance, costs and profitability.
- Maintain a robust cash-flow forecasting and treasury framework, ensuring strong visibility over liquidity.
- Strengthen financial controls, processes and governance as the business grows.
- Drive improvements to finance systems, automation and data, reducing manual processes and improving reporting.
- Support the CFO with board, lender and PE investor reporting.
- Work closely with the CFO on M&A, including financial due diligence, modelling and assessment of potential acquisitions.
- Take ownership of the finance integration of acquired businesses, bringing them onto group reporting, systems, controls and processes.
- Support the continued development of a scalable finance operating model capable of supporting significant future growth.
- Manage relationships with auditors, tax advisers, banks and other external stakeholders.
The Candidate
We are looking for an experienced Finance Director, Head of Finance or senior Financial Controller who has operated in a growing, commercially demanding environment. Ideally, you will have:
- ACA, ACCA or CIMA qualification.
- Experience within a PE-backed or similarly fast-paced, high-growth business.
- Experience managing and developing a multi-disciplinary finance team.
- Strong financial control combined with FP&A and commercial finance capability.
- Experience improving finance processes, systems, reporting and controls.
- Strong cash-flow and working-capital management experience.
- Exposure to M&A, acquisition integration or buy-and-build environments.
- The ability to operate at both a strategic and hands-on level.
- Confidence partnering with senior executives and challenging operational stakeholders.
- Experience preparing high-quality reporting for boards, investors and lenders.
- Experience within technology, healthcare, software or other recurring-revenue environments would be advantageous but is not essential.
