The Opportunity

Following a significant investment from a leading mid-market private equity investor, the business has embarked on an ambitious buy-and-build strategy, with multiple acquisitions planned over the next 24–36 months.

As the Group continues to scale, the CFO is looking to appoint a commercially minded Group Financial Director to establish a best-in-class group finance function capable of supporting rapid growth and integration.

This is a newly created position and will play a pivotal role in shaping the finance function.

The successful candidate will be responsible for designing and implementing a robust group reporting framework, leading group consolidations, improving financial controls and ensuring the finance function can support an increasingly complex multi-entity environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the Group Finance function across a growing multi-entity organisation.
  • Design and implement a robust Group reporting and consolidation framework.
  • Own the monthly Group consolidation and statutory reporting process.
  • Standardise financial reporting, policies and controls across newly acquired businesses.
  • Lead the integration of acquisitions into the Group finance structure.
  • Produce high-quality Board, lender and investor reporting.
  • Partner with the CFO on acquisition activity, due diligence and post-deal integration.
  • Develop cash flow forecasting, working capital reporting and Group performance metrics.
  • Drive improvements across finance systems, reporting processes and internal controls.
  • Build and mentor a high-performing Group Finance team.
  • Manage the year-end audit and statutory reporting process across the Group.
  • Act as a trusted adviser to the Executive Leadership Team on strategic financial matters.
  • Key Requirements
  • ACA, ACCA or CIMA qualified.
  • Proven experience as a Group Financial Controller, Head of Group Finance or Group Financial Director.
  • Significant experience leading Group consolidations within a complex multi-entity business.
  • Previous experience in a private equity-backed environment.
  • Demonstrable experience integrating acquisitions and supporting buy-and-build strategies.
  • Strong knowledge of UK GAAP and statutory reporting.
  • Comfortable operating at Board level and working directly with investors.
  • A commercially minded finance leader who enjoys building scalable finance functions.
  • Experience improving finance systems, controls and reporting within high-growth businesses.
