Siemens Rail Infrastructure deliver turnkey signalling, power and communication projects to enhance railway capacity, allow faster train frequencies and move more passengers and freight around the network more efficiently. Our projects will design, install and test these new signalling systems in a fast paced and evolving environment where new technology is being developed and deployed quicker than ever before.
Based in Manchester our work covers a large footprint across the region and opportunity for travel and project delivery across the North West and whole of UK will be available.
Here Is How The Programme Works
Whilst on the Apprenticeship you will be following an apprenticeship standard ST0841 Engineering Manufacturing Technician. The programme structure will be:
- Day release in person
Whilst working towards a formal qualification you will also work as part of a team on real life projects within the workplace.
Embark on your journey with us whilst taking part in our fantastic apprentice development programme. We will create a personalised training plan to help you develop the specific skills and knowledge required for your role. By the end of your programme, you will be equipped with the best knowledge and hands-on experience to kickstart your professional career here at Siemens Mobility.
Your learning experience will consist of exposure to the following:
- Learning about railway signalling principles and requirements
- Designing new signalling circuits to control train movements safely
- Working in the project delivery team to oversee new infrastructure being commissioned
- Testing the signalling systems to ensure safety critical functionality
- Understanding technology that is available and determining the most suitable solution
- Seeing the project lifecycle from concept to completion
Essential Skills And Attributes
We are seeking innovative and inquisitive candidates that demonstrate the following:
- Candidates must have achieved or be on track to achieve a Level 3 Engineering Qualification. Alternatively, candidates must have achieved or be on track to achieve 3x A-Levels in suitable subjects (such as maths & physics).
- Candidates must also have achieved or be on track to achieve 5 GCSE's at Grade 4 or above, including English and Sciences. Candidates also must be on track to achieve or have achieved a Grade 5 for GCSE Maths.
- Logical thinking, willing to self-learn and research, and take a creative approach to problem solving.
- Ability to work independently, safely and responsibly; take ownership of challenges and ideas and are looking to develop your ability to drive and lead change.
- Enjoy collaborating with others to find innovative solutions.
