We are recruiting for a Customer facing Solution Architect for our Grid Software Business Unit ideally with Pre-sales experience. This is a unique opportunity to shape the new business field of Digital Twins for electrical grid operators, co-innovating the next generation of grid management software with customers and partners and help integrate new products into the customer's IT landscape.
Siemens is the market leader in grid control and grid simulation. The role will be part of our NextGen Grid Management team that leads the development of this new innovative portfolio and launches the new software products and solutions into the market. This agile and global team shapes the Siemens role in the evolving and dynamic market of IoT for network utilities. We are seeking an experienced and enthusiastic Solution Architect for our new Electrical Digital Twin portfolio to advance the growth of our business in Europe. The position's home base can be flexible within Europe.
Your job - challenging and future oriented
To satisfy our customers is our highest goal, and the Solution Architect has a major role in Pre-sales as the technical and domain expert, working with the respective roles from electrical grid operators and IT departments. By understanding the customer needs, the Solution Architect builds the solution by combining commercial off-the-shelf products with customer specific enhancements, translating these additional requirements to our product organization and leading the discussions to enable continuously optimizing product fit for our customers.
Responsibilities and Skills:
- Ensuring that the solution architecture aligns with the roadmaps established by Product Management.
- Patterns and guidance that are developed by solution architects are an important input for standard product development.
- Understanding the customers' needs and being the representative for the entire project lifecycle focusing on functional and technical capabilities in all phases, from bid to sales close.
- Managing customer requirements for a customer project, leading workshops, analyzing business requirements, and driving functional and technical solutions through project documentation.
- During the bid phase, driving a feasibility study, preparing a solution vision or solution outline for an invitation to tender.
Required Technical and Professional Experience
- Successfully graduated in Information Technology discipline or similar with focus/experience of IT/OT Convergence in Industry or/and Critical Infrastructures.
- Background in engineering in electrical/electronic discipline or similar would be good or any specialization in Energy/Utility sector/Power Control Area advantageous.
- Knowledge of state-of-the-art IT infrastructure, IT security and network technologies and Profound Knowledge to leverage IaaS and Containerization technologies (Docker, Kubernetes, OpenShift) and understanding on customers benefits.
- Knowledge of utility specific standards (CIM, IEC61850).
- Possess a combination of technical acumen coupled with the ability to communicate complex technical elements in a simple, effective manner.
- Able to work effectively with individuals from multiple cultures and backgrounds and bring fluent English skills in written and spoken form. German knowledge is advantageous.
- Flexible to travel 30%-40% of the time.
