We are looking for a Senior Protection Engineer to work on the Electrification and Automation team for Siemens Smart Infrastructure. The role will focus on the delivery of protection applications, design, configuration and testing across customers in the UK and Ireland.
Location: Hebburn office, South Tyneside, United Kingdom (Hybrid remote / office).
Responsibilities:
- Delivery experience of protection application on transmission and distribution networks at different voltage levels.
- Application knowledge of protection devices for different protection schemes and experience with standard communication protocols such as IEC 61850, GOOSE, IEC 60870-5-103, etc.
- Configuration of protection relays, including design and programming of relay logic for various protection schemes.
- Production of test documentation (test sheets) for FAT, and attendance at FAT/SAT/training sites where necessary.
- Attend technical meetings with clients to ensure technical compliance.
- Work closely with project engineers to ensure jobs are completed on schedule.
- Knowledge or experience with protection product ranges from various OEMs is an advantage.
Qualifications:
- Degree or equivalent qualification in Electrical Engineering.
- Knowledge of Siprotec 4/5 and Reyrolle devices; experience with Digsi 4/5, Reydisp and secondary injection testing using PONOVO or OMICRON test kits preferred.
- Strong mathematical skills for high-voltage power system calculations.
- Programming language skills such as CFC and proficiency with Microsoft Office applications.
- Good communication and interpersonal skills.
