We have an exciting opportunity for a Finance Lead (18 Month FTC) to join our Siemens Mobility - Rail Infrastructure/Mobile Communications business in Poole. Reporting to the Senior Finance Manager you will have financial responsibility for a global portfolio of high technology projects and manage a team of finance staff. This role requires at least 3 days in the office per week, to collaborate closely with the wider team.
You’ll make a difference by:
- Being a key member of the local management team as a finance business partner.
- Providing day‑to‑day management, support and guidance to the local Finance team.
- Providing robust governance across projects within the portfolio including order entry calculations, period end accruals and actuals, final project positions, currency hedging and variance analysis.
- Owning the finance input to support bid & tender activity ensuring that bids are robust and that risks & opportunities are well understood.
- Forecasting of key financial metrics on projects and local overhead costs and recoveries as part of monthly reporting to the executive team.
- Providing challenge and insight on finance topics within Project Reviews, local Management Meetings and within the wider business.
- Ensuring compliance with Project Accounting Process, Project contractual requirements and financial reporting requirements within the regional finance team.
- Driving process improvement with a strong emphasis on unlocking the benefits of digitalization & automation.
Your role profile may vary from time to time in accordance with business needs. Your annual objective setting with your line manager will outline any additional responsibilities required to meet business or individual development needs for the forthcoming financial year.
What you’ll need to succeed:
- A desire and ability to work closely and develop productive relationships with both Finance staff and other project functions.
- Ability to manage multiple deadlines and to quickly re‑prioritise as necessary.
- The ability to analyse and use data to add value to a process or activity.
- Being strong mathematically with advanced Excel skills and prior project accounting experience combined with a solid understanding of core contract terms and conditions which have a financial aspect.
- Experience in management and the ability through knowledge and communication to guide team members through processes to ensure robust financial governance.
- Having an insatiable curiosity which drives you to be relentless in answering every question.
Must haves:
- Being a fully Qualified Accountant (CIMA/ACCA) with practical accountancy experience.
- Strong communication skills with the ability to challenge and influence others including other senior managers in the regional leadership team.
- Prior experience in a financial leadership role.
