About the role
As a Procurement Engineer / Senior Procurement Engineer, you will play a key role in new product introduction and lifecycle cost optimisation. Acting as a trusted interface between Procurement, R&D and suppliers, you’ll combine technical insight with commercial thinking to shape value‑driven, sustainable sourcing solutions that support our innovative medical technologies.
What you’ll be doing
- Partnering with Procurement and R&D to deliver holistic product cost optimisation across all phases of the product lifecycle
- Leading and contributing to Cost & Value Engineering activities, including cost analysis, benchmarking, target costing and should‑cost modelling
- Supporting product design through early supplier involvement, cost estimation and technology‑specific recommendations
- Providing fact‑based cost and value analysis to support supplier negotiations
- Developing, improving and standardising cost and value optimisation methods
- Contributing to procurement transformation initiatives, using digital tools and data to enable smarter, more efficient ways of working
- Building open, collaborative relationships with internal and external stakeholders across a global network
What skills and experience you’ll bring
- A degree in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering or a comparable technical discipline
- Experience in engineering and/or procurement, with exposure to supplier collaboration and cost optimisation
- Strong understanding of electro‑mechanical components and manufacturing technologies (e.g. sheet metal, machining, casting, mechanical assemblies, cooling systems or composites)
- Proven capability in cost structure analysis, cost drivers and target costing
- Familiarity with cost calculation and DFMA tools (such as TcPCM / PerfectProCalc or similar)
- A structured, analytical approach combined with curiosity and openness to learning new technologies
- Clear communication, effective presentation skills and the ability to influence through collaboration
- A proactive, accountable mindset with the confidence to work independently and as part of a team
- Willingness to travel internationally on an occasional basis (typically 20%)
