Our Magnet Technology business is the world’s leading designer and manufacturer of superconducting magnets for MRI systems.
Your Role: This is a hands‑on, varied maintenance role where your expertise will directly support production, quality and safety. You’ll work across a broad range of mechanical and electrical systems, combining reactive fault‑finding with planned and preventative maintenance. You’ll also have the opportunity to influence how we improve equipment reliability by contributing to root cause analysis and continuous improvement activity.
What you'll be doing:
- Responding quickly and effectively to equipment and facility failures to restore safe operation
- Taking responsibility for equipment start‑up and shut‑down, ensuring process parameters are met
- Monitoring facility systems and recording performance data for analysis and traceability
- Delivering planned maintenance activities and Total Productive Maintenance (TPM) initiatives
- Updating the maintenance management system accurately after completed work
- Carrying out routine checks and condition monitoring such as vibration analysis, weld parameter checks, fluid levels and vacuum inspections
- Working safely at all times, following established procedures and contributing to a strong safety culture
- Managing local spare parts to ensure availability and cost‑effective stock levels
- Using structured problem‑solving techniques to resolve equipment issues and prevent recurrence
- Supporting simple PLC modifications, tooling improvements or mechanical design solutions
- Analysing trends in equipment data and recommending practical improvements
- Providing advanced technical support and collaborating with others when complex issues arise
What skills and experience you'll bring:
- A recognised engineering apprenticeship, NVQ, BTEC or equivalent qualification
- Strong experience as a multi‑skilled maintenance engineer in an industrial or manufacturing environment
- A balanced background in both mechanical and electrical maintenance
- A calm, methodical approach to fault‑finding and root cause analysis
- The ability to plan and implement safe, effective and efficient repair solutions
- A clear commitment to health and safety, including producing risk assessments and method statements
- Confidence working independently, alongside the ability to collaborate and share knowledge
