We are currently recruiting for an Outstation Technician to be based from our Cricklewood and Farringdon Depot. We're looking for individuals with a strong background in both electrical and mechanical engineering, coupled with experience in fault diagnosis. This is a shift-based role where the working pattern consists of a rotating shift pattern of nights and days. Due to the requirements to follow legal responsibilities imposed on us by the Working Time Regulations, ROGS Regulations and other Railway Group Standards, we advise that successful candidates are based up to 1 hour from the depot.
What are my Responsibilities?
- With minimal supervision undertake maintenance and repair of the allocated rolling stock to meet the requirements of the production plan.
- Carry out advanced fault finding and diagnostic activities.
- Assist other team members with the development of technical skills.
- Assist with the provision of technical support at incidents off depot.
- Undertake any other duties as and when required.
- Produce complex, analytical technical reports on fault investigation.
- Specialise in areas of technical expertise.
- Provide first line support at Stations.
What do I need to qualify for the role?
- Experience in both mechanical and electrical fault finding.
- NVQ level 3 or above in a relevant engineering field.
- Must have relevant experience in a mechanical/electrical engineering environment, ideally within a Rolling Stock maintenance environment.
- Ability to complete all records of actions and operations accurately and to procedures.
- Understands and cares for tools, equipment and PPE as appropriate.
- Knowledge of Health & Safety including bio-hazards, manual handling and Control of Substances Hazardous to Health (COSHH).
- Ability to use a laptop for diagnostic purposes.
- Ability to understand and interpret relevant technical publications.
- Ability to produce extensive technical reports.
