Siemens Mobility are currently recruiting for Outstation Technicians to be based from Clapham. The role of the Outstation Technician is to undertake maintenance of the depot rolling stock and plant and carry out associated activities that support the operation of the depot. As an Outstation Technician, you will have an electrical and/or mechanical engineering background and experience of fault diagnosis. You don’t have to have a background in the rail industry as we will provide you with full training. Your base location will be Clapham but you will cover surrounding customer locations and mainline failures. This is a shift-based role where the working pattern consists of a rotating shift pattern of nights and days. We also require you to complete some mandatory online testing for this role. Due to the requirements to comply with legal responsibilities imposed on us by the Working Time Regulations, ROGS Regulations and other Railway Group Standards, we advise that successful candidates are based up to 1 hour from the depot.
You’ll make a difference by:
- With minimal supervision undertake maintenance and repair of the allocated rolling stock to meet the requirements of the production plan
- Carry out advanced fault finding and diagnostic activities
- Assist other team members with the development of technical skills
- Assist with the provision of technical support at incidents off depot
- Undertake any other duties as and when required
- Produce complex, analytical technical reports on fault investigation
- Specialise in areas of technical expertise
- Provide first line support at Stations.
Your success will be grounded by:
- Experience in both mechanical and electrical fault finding
- NVQ level 3 or above in a relevant engineering field
- Must have relevant experience in a mechanical/electrical engineering environment, ideally within a Rolling Stock maintenance environment
- Ability to complete all records of actions and operations accurately and to procedures
- Understands and cares for tools, equipment and PPE as appropriate
- Knowledge of Health & Safety including bio-hazards, manual handling and Control of Substances Hazardous to Health (COSHH)
- Ability to use a laptop for diagnostic purposes
- Ability to understand and interpret relevant technical publications
- Ability to produce extensive technical reports
