We have an exciting opportunity to join Siemens Mobility as an Environment and Sustainability Advisor based in London as part of our Rail Infrastructure business. In this role, you will support the delivery of environment and environmental sustainability requirements in nominated region(s) or project(s) including the development and implementation of related corporate workstreams where needed. This could include Environment - ecology, contaminated land, waste, water, pollution prevention, and Environmental Sustainability - sustainable procurement, community engagement, diversity and carbon.
Responsibilities
- Facilitating the development of project specific environment and environmental sustainability documentation in line with business needs, legislation and specific client requirements. For example; Environment and Sustainability Management Plans (ESMPs), Environment and Social Risk Assessments (ESRAs) and Site Waste Management Plans (SWMPs).
- Ensuring project teams are aware of and have appropriately programmed for management of environment and social issues especially those related to permits, licences, and consents.
- Managing and undertaking environmental inspections and audits of projects/offices/sites/depots (including in other regions as required).
- Being the lead technical support for any environmental incident investigations.
- Working in collaboration with all project relevant team members (e.g., EHS, commercial, construction, design) and actively interface with Client counterpart and other contractors (e.g., principal contractors, alliance organisations, supply chain partners) to drive environment and relevant sustainability deliverables.
- Being an ambassador with regards to the promotion of a positive environment and sustainability culture both internally and externally.
What You’ll Need to Succeed
- Experience in the development and/or delivery of environment and sustainability briefing materials.
- Willingness to provide guidance and constructive feedback to colleagues on environmental and relevant sustainability issues.
- Detailed knowledge of one or more specific environment topics (desirable).
Essential requirements
- Relevant experience in an environmental or relevant sustainability field within construction and/or the rail industry.
- Full UK driving licence.
- Membership of a relevant professional organisation (e.g., ISEP, CIWEM, IES).
- Current (or clear timeline to achieving) Membership of IEMA (or equivalent) (Advisor – Practitioner Level).
