Siemens is creating its first UK based Rail Industry Hub on the outskirts of Goole in the East Riding of Yorkshire. With an initial contract to assemble nearly 80 trains to service the Piccadilly line on the London Underground we are starting to recruit up to 300 skilled technical and support colleagues at in our Manufacturing Facility. In the near future follow-on work is expected to bring this number of trains into the hundreds, along with an expansion on the site into maintenance and overhaul activities displaying a long-term commitment to the area and growth in employment and career opportunities. The successful applicant for this role will be responsible for leading the assembly activities of our manufacturing site in Goole. The manufacturing plant in Goole is a twin to the existing facility we have in Vienna, so key part of the role is making sure the knowledge share happens from Vienna to Goole. As a key member of our team, you will directly support the site General Manager and collaborate with the wider leadership team. Your primary responsibility will be to ensure that operational assembly activities meet the required standards, are completed safely, within budget, and on time. You will lead a dedicated team of managers and technicians, fostering a culture of continuous improvement and empowerment, all within the framework of Siemens values and expected behaviours. Your role will involve delivering the production plan and building dynamic relationships with internal, external, local, and international stakeholders. You will receive support from other specialists within the site management team and the broader Siemens community. Effective communication of your team’s progress through the use of KPIs and an appropriate dashboard will be crucial to the success of this high-profile project. d an appropriate Dashboard to ensure that this high-profile project will be a success. This is your role. What part will you play? To be successful in this role you should be able to demonstrate: Leadership experience of working within a safety-first manufacturing environment, ideally with international supply chains, in complex manufacturing or similar industries Experience of leading a team to plan, manage, execute and deliver to the customer requirements Hold a relevant engineering, leadership or business qualification or have an equivalent level of practical experience as part of a site leadership team Demonstrable experience of leading or participating within a project, programme or start-up environment It would also be helpful to have the following: Experience of working within a lean production environment, ideally within a start-up Industry experience German language, or a willingness to learn it, is not essential however the successful applicant will find this beneficial Benefits Competitive Salary based on your experience Requests for flexible working patterns will be considered 26 Days Holidays plus bank holidays, you are also encouraged to volunteer with 2 paid days per year (Volunteering at the local foodbank, in the local nature reserve and on STEM activities such as Primary Engineer, in local schools, are all part of our current programs A flexible benefits package where you chose the benefits that are important to you.
