Siemens Rail Electrification powers electric trains, trams, and metros worldwide by designing, installing, and maintaining all the necessary equipment, like substations and overhead lines. Their work ensures these vehicles get the electricity they need to run safely and efficiently, supporting modern electric transport and helping to reduce its environmental impact.
We have an exciting opportunity for a Senior Project Accountant to join our team in the East Midlands (Birmingham / Derby)! Reporting to the Regional Finance Manager (Rail Electrification), you will play a key role within the project finance team, supporting the delivery of rail electrification projects. In this role you will be responsible for the project accounting management of several projects, enabling effective cost control and ensuring the provision of key management information to the project team. This role supports hybrid working with 2-3 days in the office per week.
You’ll make an impact by:
- Project accounting and cost control: Take ownership of project accounting activities, including accurate cost booking, budget management, monthly forecast analysis and cost control.
- Month-end close and reporting: Lead the monthly closing of project books, ensuring financial reporting and forecasting are accurate, high quality and delivered to key deadlines.
- Accruals and revenue recognition: Compile and verify period-end positions through accurate assessment of accruals, revenue recognition and supporting project assumptions.
- Finance business partnering: Act as a key member of the project delivery team, partnering with the Project Manager and wider project leadership team to provide financial challenge, insight and decision support.
- Stakeholder engagement: Build effective relationships with managers, heads of function and directors, helping them understand project performance, cost drivers and financial risks or opportunities.
- Communication: Communicate financial information clearly and confidently, tailoring your approach to suit different audiences and levels of financial understanding.
- Process improvement: Actively contribute to business process improvement and the digitalisation of finance processes.
- Compliance and integrity: Act with integrity, demonstrate awareness of Siemens compliance policies and exhibit behaviours aligned with those requirements.
- Operational support: Support the wider operational depot team with finance-related guidance and insight where required.
