We have a fantastic opportunity for a Senior Training & Development Specialist to join our Siemens Mobility Education and Skills Training function. Reporting to the Senior Training & Development Specialist for RI, and working closely with the Business Partnering & Training Leadership Team, you will be responsible for the technicality of all Telecommunications & Networking training material and equipment, acting as an SME for E&S for both new and legacy training. You will also be required to deliver legacy training to our internal and external clients including a range of courses related to Signalling, Networks, Data Communications, Telephony and skills training, primarily in the rail sector across the UK and potentially internationally.
As well as development and delivery, you will take ownership of the Telecommunications & Networking training strategy, working closely with the leads within our Telecommunications & Networking sector to identify upcoming training requirements. Focusing on developing the competence of internal engineers and key customers by delivering first class training. You will need to apply your existing experience and passion for developing and delivering signalling, networks, communications & telecoms training to ensure key business deliverables are achieved. Working alongside the other seniors within the team, you will be a key player in developing the strategy needed to grow the signalling / telecommunications portfolio in line with business requirements to develop the internal and external offering. You will drive Siemens’s training offering forward using technology and modern training techniques. Behaviours are a major factor in this role with a strong focus on Stakeholder engagement.
Responsibilities
- Designing and delivering high-quality technical training for legacy and safety-critical Telecommunications & Networks systems, using blended learning approaches.
- Ensuring all training meets Siemens safety, quality, legislative and customer standards.
- Delivering engaging classroom, practical and digital training, adapting content based on incident learning and operational needs.
- Acting as a Subject Matter Expert, owning the technical content, equipment and continuous development of training materials and e-learning.
- Shaping the technical training strategy alongside senior stakeholders, influencing how and where training is delivered.
- Supporting business growth through project bids, proposals and stakeholder engagement, advising on training and competency requirements.
- Mentoring and supporting trainers, contributing to leadership, business improvement and cross-functional collaboration.
- Building strong customer relationships, coordinating training plans, budgets and competency requirements across internal and external partners.
Qualifications
- An HND (or equivalent) in a STEM subject, with strong experience in communications and telecommunications systems.
- Broad technical knowledge of UK railway telecoms and communications within a highly regulated environment.
- Proven ability to develop training strategies, review and improve course materials, and plan effective training delivery.
- Strong stakeholder and client engagement skills, including contributing to project scope, planning and new ways of working.
- Excellent communication, presentation and influencing skills, with the ability to engage at all levels.
- Strong organisational and time management skills, able to work independently within a virtual or distributed team.

- Membership or Fellowship of the Institution of Railway Signalling Engineers (IRSE).
