We’re looking for a Technical Engineer to join our team at Three Bridges or Hornsey depot, supporting the Thameslink fleet. Reporting to the Technical Manager, you’ll be a vital part of the Technical Team, providing hands-on engineering expertise at a local level. Your role will focus on maintaining and improving fleet performance through maintenance optimisation, reliability enhancements, and addressing technical and safety challenges.
You’ll work closely with the Performance Team, analysing factors that influence fleet safety, reliability, maintainability, and availability. From troubleshooting technical issues to managing customer variation requests, your work will help ensure the smooth and efficient operation of one of the most advanced fleets in the UK.

Expertly completing engineering issues allocated from the Technical Issues database.

Engaging in discussions with suppliers to exchange technical failure information and discuss possible solutions.

Developing cost effective solutions to improve safety, reliability, and availability, including utilisation of the Vehicle Maintenance instructions (VMIs) and Procedures (VMPs)

Support the production of Engineering Change Control documentation (RIS-2700) for trials and modifications to implement solutions and eradicate technical problems identified.

Collaborating and communicating with other teams, departments, and individuals.

Supporting the audit process through the assessment, prioritization and categorization of issues raised either for support by Siemens Technical Services and/or Siemens Fleet integrity.

Your qualifications and experience in electrical or mechanical engineering, with a focus on mechanical engineering being highly advantageous.

You will possess a HNC or equivalent level qualification

Your background in the Railway/Rolling Stock environment, providing essential expertise to the team.

Your ability to interpret mechanical and electrical drawings and systematically solve technical problems.

Your skills in analysing train-borne event logs and fault diagnostic systems to identify and resolve issues efficiently.
