In this role you lead asset data management for the HS2 programme, shaping data architectures, governance, and integration across engineering tools. You will collaborate with project teams and stakeholders to ensure high-quality asset information and compliant delivery. The position offers impact on digital delivery, BIM excellence, and smarter rail infrastructure. You will drive data quality and enable seamless information exchange to support decision-making and handover.

Responsibilities:

  • Design and maintain asset data architectures, relational databases, and data models for major rail projects.
  • Develop and optimize SQL databases, queries, validation rules, and data quality processes.
  • Lead data integration across design tools, GIS platforms, databases, and digital engineering applications.
  • Support asset registers through design, construction, handover, and operation phases.
  • Ensure compliance with client standards, asset information requirements, data governance, and industry best practices.
  • Act as SME for asset data, supporting data queries, reporting, and continuous improvement.
  • Deliver accurate, compliant asset information meeting HS2 contractual and governance standards.
  • Enable seamless asset data exchange across clients, engineering teams, and digital systems.
  • Provide asset information to support decision-making, handover, and operational asset management.

Key requirements:

  • Strong experience with SQL and relational databases, including design, schemas, and data modelling.
  • Experience managing asset information and structured datasets within large rail, transport or infrastructure projects.
  • Ability to develop and interpret ERDs and implement data validation and governance processes.
  • Experience integrating data across multiple systems, platforms, and applications, including APIs.
  • Relevant degree-level qualification or equivalent in engineering, data management or related discipline.
  • Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills across technical and non-technical teams.
