We are currently recruiting for a Technical Engineer to join our Rolling Stock business. Working from our Three Bridges or Hornsey site, you will be responsible for the investigation and resolution of technical, product safety and reliability issues associated with the platform. You will also ensure the fleets continue to operate in a safe, reliable, and cost-effective manner for our customers by continuing to use the latest digital, engineering and maintenance techniques to maximise the fleet reliability and availability levels.
You’ll make an impact by:
- Leading the investigation and resolution of any technical, product safety, and reliability issues associated with the platform.
- Developing and documenting cost-effective solutions to address and improve product safety, reliability, and availability in line with relevant standards.
- Conducting thorough analysis of downloads and failures to identify root causes and supporting discussions with suppliers as required to exchange technical failure information and potential solutions.
- Interacting with support functions and key suppliers to ensure on time delivery of material and services, participating in performance reviews when required.
- Maintaining up-to-date knowledge of rolling stock and EMU (Electric Multiple Unit) systems.
- Supporting change control processes to manage modifications and improvements.
- Providing technical expertise and guidance to internal teams and stakeholders.
Your success will be grounded by:
- HND / HNC/ BTEC/ CTEC qualification or higher equivalent qualification in electrical or mechanical engineering or equivalent experience in a railway / rolling stock environment.
- Knowledge of railway maintenance techniques and procedures.
- Demonstratable knowledge of railway systems including reading mechanical and electrical drawings, systematic fault finding and problem identification.
- Ability to review, analyse, and interrogate technical reports.
- Ability to analyse train borne event and fault diagnostic systems.
- The ability to work with minimal supervision, setting clear targets and deliverables to ensure the achievement of project goals.
- Good communication skills written & oral.
- Good knowledge of IT systems and software.
It would also be beneficial to have:
- Experience in dealing with customers and suppliers.
- Good technical knowledge of the relevant rolling stock platform.
- Analytical techniques (5Whys, SWOT, Design Thinking etc).
- The ability to provide leadership within a matrix organisation structure.
