As Maintenance Support Engineer β MRX, you will work as part of a dedicated front-line support team. This role involves working closely with the customer to provide support, advice, system fixes, and enhancements predominantly to installed Siemens (VEMS) Vehicle Equipment Measurements Systems installed in the UK.
This is a hybrid role which will include a blend of working from home, our offices in Chippenham and Derby, and our customer sites spread across the UK. You will receive all the tools, vehicle, PPE, support, and training needed to perform your duties safely and to a high standard. As this is a niche role, we will provide the necessary training and support to someone who aligns with Siemens' values and behaviours.
You will make an impact by:
- 1st and 2nd line fault investigation to resolve incidents as they occur.
- Travelling to depot locations will take up a substantial part of your time, so you will be comfortable with regular travel and staying away from home; to fulfil this role you will have to be flexible and comfortable to work around the country, sometimes at short notice.
- Log analysis for fault and incident investigations and subsequent reporting of findings.
- Investigating and responding to formal Technical Questions from the client.
- Look for opportunities to bring more value in any way to our customers.
- System health status checks.
- Occasionally supporting with new installations, to support with your knowledge of the install base.
Your success is grounded by:
- 1st line corrective maintenance experience in rail signalling, measuring, or similar assets in safety-critical environments.
- Proven ability to build and maintain productive relationships with customers and Siemens teams.
- Strong communication skills to liaise with various levels of technical staff and customers.
- Ability to learn new skills, work independently, and within a team.
- Self-motivated and able to work under pressure with tight deadlines.
- Good IT literacy.
- Valid Category B Driver's License.
- Ability to follow safe manual handling procedures and site safety protocols.
- Experience with IT systems, including railway monitoring and security; cybersecurity experience in a railway environment is desirable.
- Electrical qualifications and experience with Python or similar scripting languages is advantageous.
- Knowledge in industrial software/hardware development and COSHH, IOSH certifications is preferred.
- Experience in safety-critical railway infrastructure support is desirable.
