Our Rolling Stock and Customer Service keeps trains running safely and reliably every day. The business delivers expert maintenance, technical support and digital solutions across the full lifecycle of rail fleets, helping customers maximise performance, availability and passenger satisfaction. We are currently recruiting for a Rolling Stock Production (Deputy) Supervisor to lead and supervise a team of technicians in our Rolling Stock Maintenance Depot in Hornsey. You will play a critical role in delivering safe, efficient, and high‑quality maintenance across the depot, ensuring work is completed in line with operational priorities, safety standards, and technical requirements. Acting as a key link between technicians and leadership, you’ll drive performance, support fault resolution, and maintain strict control of safety, systems, and asset integrity. Please note this role is shift-based.

You’ll make a difference by…

  • Leading and supervising maintenance activities, ensuring all work is delivered safely in line with depot procedures, safe systems of work, and isolation requirements.
  • Challenging unsafe behaviours and stopping work where necessary.
  • Allocating tasks based on competence, priority, and resources, clearly communicating targets and monitoring progress against the production plan, escalating risks or delays as required.
  • Providing hands‑on technical guidance and supporting fault finding within your competence, ensuring timely resolution of issues and escalation of complex or recurring faults.
  • Ensuring availability and control of parts, materials, tools, and equipment, maintaining accountability, serviceability, and readiness to support maintenance activities.
  • Maintaining accurate records across systems (e.g. DPPS, CORMAP), ensuring staff location tracking, asset swaps, and maintenance data are correctly recorded, complete, and traceable.
  • Upholding high standards of work quality, ensuring completion of post‑work checks, and delivering clear, structured shift handovers covering risks, isolation status, and outstanding work, while promoting a zero‑harm culture.

What you’ll need to succeed…

  • Good knowledge of IT systems/software
  • Excellent communication skills both written and oral
  • Strong organization/planning skills: ability to track multiple projects and work orders at once.
  • Relevant Engineering experience or Engineering ONC/equivalent qualification
  • Good understanding of Health, Safety, and Environment requirements preferably in rail or similar environments.

Must Haves:

  • Technical knowledge of Rolling Stock maintenance procedures/practices
  • Basic understanding of continuous improvement principles
  • Experience working with maintenance tools such as CORMAP or SAP
  • User level understanding of computerized maintenance management systems
  • Contract/Commercial knowledge
