- Undertaking routine maintenance and repair of the allocated rolling stock to meet the requirements of the production plan.
- Carrying out download diagnosis and fault‑finding to a basic level.
- Assisting other team members with the development of technical skills.
- Depot driving – Moving allocated rolling stock within the depot limits.
- Identifying, ordering, and collecting spares and materials from stores.
- Assisting with cleaning of rolling stock when required.
- Actively identifying continuous improvement opportunities within own activities that will benefit customers and the business.
- Actively participating in sharing best practice with colleagues and other teams on own site and other sites.
Your success will be grounded by:
- Engineering apprenticeship or equivalent experience.
- Rolling stock experience preferred but not essential as training will be provided.
- Experience in documenting actions and operations accurately and to procedures.
- Good knowledge and understanding for cares of tools, equipment and PPE.
- Knowledge of Health & Safety including bio‑hazards, manual handling and Control of Substances Hazardous to Health (COSHH).
- Ability to use a laptop for diagnostic, fault‑finding and rectification purposes.
- Ability to understand and interpret relevant technical publications.
- Flexibility to accommodate shifts patterns is required.
Important to note:
This is a permanent opportunity to work on a shift pattern/rotation (12 hours per day, mixture of days and nights). Due to the requirements to comply with legal responsibilities imposed on us by the Working Time Regulations, ROGS Regulations and other Railway Group Standards, we advise that successful candidates are based up to 1 hour from the depot. During the selection process, Siemens use specific criteria in line with our grading framework to ascertain where candidates sit within our Technician structure. Siemens will make successful candidates an offer at the level deemed appropriate from performance throughout the selection and assessment process.
