We have an exciting opportunity to join Siemens Mobility as a Lead Project GIS Engineer in our Rail Infrastructure business and based at The Lantern, London. In this role, you will contribute to the configuration, development and ongoing optimisation of Siemens’ Geospatial Information System (Esri ArcGIS) across multiple programmes. This includes ensuring that all GIS solutions, datasets and workflows are fully aligned with project requirements, industry standards and digital governance frameworks.

You will support the integration of Siemens’ ArcGIS environments with wider digital ecosystems, including visualisation platforms, asset information systems and EDMS/CAD management systems such as ProjectWise. As the GIS Engineer, you’ll be responsible for preparing, validating and delivering GIS outputs and datasets in accordance with contract requirements, ensuring all information is verified, quality‑assured and suitable for issue to clients or onward use within project CDEs.

In addition, the GIS Engineer will provide technical support, guidance and training to project teams and stakeholders on the effective use of ArcGIS tools and applications. You’ll make an impact by:

  • Collecting, analysing, validating and maintaining spatial and non‑spatial data to support engineering and project delivery.
  • Developing and maintaining automated data processing, validation and integration workflows using FME and ArcGIS geoprocessing tools, enabling efficient and scalable digital processes across the project.
  • Supporting the configuration, optimisation and maintenance of ArcGIS digital solutions, including web maps, dashboards, applications and data services.
  • Supporting with the delivery and optimisation of cloud‑based GIS and data solutions using Microsoft Azure services (or equivalent platforms), ensuring scalability, security and robust system performance.
  • Developing and maintaining scripting‑based data processing tools, utilising Python, SQL and other relevant technologies to streamline data management, validation and transformation workflows.
  • Collaborating with BIM, Digitalisation, CAD, engineering, and information management teams to integrate GIS, FME and other digital solutions with wider project systems (e.g., ProjectWise, CDE platforms).

Your success will be grounded by:

  • Relevant technical qualification in GIS, Geography, Geomatics, Computer Science or a related discipline.
  • Strong understanding of GIS, CAD, BIM and geospatial data standards used across UK infrastructure projects and by major clients.
  • Hands‑on experience with GIS toolsets, particularly Esri ArcGIS (Pro, Online, Enterprise) and FME for data processing, validation and integration.
  • Practical experience delivering GIS solutions on large-scale infrastructure or rail projects in the UK (HS2 experience beneficial).
  • Ability to implement and support digital workflows, including configuration, testing, data validation and adopting new features or add‑ons.
  • Willingness to learn and develop, seeking out new knowledge, technologies, and best practices within GIS and digital engineering.
