We are recruiting for an experienced Bid Manager to join our Customer Services Rail Infrastructure (CS RI) Bids and Tendering department working closely with all disciplines within the CSRI team and the wider Siemens Mobility business, to ensure delivery of high quality, winning bids, and ensuring these are effectively mobilised to the project delivery team.
Note: This role is office based in either Chippenham, London or Birmingham.

- Managing the full bid lifecycle from Bid/No‑Bid to contract award, aligning stakeholders, defining win themes, and delivering targeted capture plans.
- Developing and executing bid strategies by coordinating technical, commercial, and financial inputs, challenging contracts, and managing risk with legal and commercial teams.
- Producing high‑quality, compliant tender submissions that clearly articulate the offer and provide a strong delivery baseline.
- Leading cross‑functional bid teams by setting direction, managing resources, engaging stakeholders, and ensuring clear reporting and governance.
- Managing client engagement by acting as the main contact, supporting negotiations, and delivering persuasive presentations that strengthen the commercial position.
- Ensuring governance, handover, and continuous improvement through budget control, approval processes, knowledge transfer, and enhancing bid quality and best practices.
What you’ll need to succeed…
- Demonstrated ability in managing multiple bids through governance frameworks, coordinating parallel workstreams across financial, technical, and commercial approvals within structured corporate processes.
- Experience contributing to bids within an engineering or project‑based environment, ideally in a regulated industry, with exposure to opportunities exceeding £1m.
- Strong understanding of project delivery in rail or similar sectors, with the ability to challenge and influence inputs across project management, engineering, planning, finance, and commercial disciplines.
- Effective leadership and matrix management capability, with proficiency in engaging with cross‑functional teams (10+ people), operating alongside senior project stakeholders, influencing internal and external partners.
- Excellent communication, negotiation, and organisational skills, combined with a proactive, high‑energy approach, resilience under pressure and flexibility to travel.

- Commercially astute mentality, capable of structuring competitive bids that optimise profit and margin while identifying and mitigating business risks.
- Ability to present, influence and negotiate with mid‑level management.
