A Snapshot of your day
As a Principal Engineer at Siemens Energy you will be responsible for providing technical input into the production of Protection Engineering drawings/documents, providing approvals against Design Specifications, adhering to programme, budget, quality, health & safety requirements, also providing technical guidance to allocated design team members.
How You’ll Make an Impact
- Produce and approve Protection Engineering Detailed Design Packages, Engineering Technical Specification and Risk Assessments
- Maintain the design change control process on associated schemes
- Provide timely responses to non-conformances raised through the NCR+ process
- Coordinate with other departments in resolution of interdisciplinary issues
- Attend site meetings to discuss and advise construction staff on site related issues
- Attend Technical Meetings with Client, site or office based, to ensure Client satisfaction
- Gain product knowledge and site knowledge through visits to UK sites and German factories
- Provide tendering support when required
- Attend client Policy and Best Practice Meetings and provide feedback to the department
- Identify and implement new tools, designs, product and process improvements
- Co-ordinate with Technology team by contributing on technical issues to facilitate Type Registration including design approval
What You’ll Bring
- Minimum HNC/ Degree Qualified in Electrical Engineering
- Experience within the Electricity Transmission and Distribution industry, including UK Transmission System experience
- Fully conversant with the latest Transmission and Distribution standards & technologies applicable to Protection Engineering
- Flexible approach to design solutions
- Positive working attitude, able to demonstrate self-motivation and a proactive approach
- Good written, verbal communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to manage, motivate and inspire others within the team
- Good customer focus/management skills

This is a hybrid role can be based in Newcastle upon Tyne or Glasgow whereby you must work onsite 3 days per week.
