The Power Transmission & Systems Principal Consultant plays a key role in leading technical studies for new power generation, storage, and load resources aiming to connect to the transmission network. This position involves guiding clients in selecting optimal solutions and reviewing recommendations to tackle challenges associated with isolated, inverter-based power systems aimed at decarbonizing industrial sites. Additionally, the consultant will present our offerings to potential clients and oversee the progress of various consulting engagements, ensuring alignment with planned objectives.
How You’ll Make an Impact
- Leading analyses of power systems, transmission, and industrial network planning, including grid interconnection studies.
- Collaborating with clients to ensure successful grid connection requests while identifying potential risks and commercial implications.
- Supporting the integration of power electronic devices, renewable generation, storage devices, and HVDCs into AC grids, from conceptual studies to project execution.
- Analyzing high-frequency phenomena such as harmonic distortion, transient overvoltages, and inrush currents.
- Driving business development by crafting proposals to address client challenges and forming execution teams.
- Mentoring junior team members, identifying new consulting offerings, and developing arguments for market potential.
What You Bring
- A university degree in electrical power engineering (M.Sc. or Ph.D.) with relevant professional experience in power system analysis across steady-state, dynamic, and transient domains.
- Strong knowledge and experience in transmission system planning, operating studies, and power system performance analyses, including stability and power quality assessments.
- Familiarity with grid connection procedures and codes, along with proven experience collaborating with independent and transmission system operators, utilities, and developers.
- Expertise in high voltage applications, industrial power supply concepts, power electronics, HVDC, FACTS, and renewable generation.
- Proficiency in power system simulation programs (e.g., PSS/E, DigSilent PowerFactory) and programming tools such as Python and FORTRAN.
- Excellent communication skills, both oral and written, with a creative and analytical approach to problem-solving in a consulting environment, along with the flexibility to travel as needed (up to 40%).
