A Snapshot of your day
As a Product Conformance Engineer, you will ensure products meet contractual quality standards during manufacture and before releasing to customer. You will constantly monitor and administer corrective and preventative actions to embed a Quality improvement culture. You will also check the integrity of turbine generator components in accordance with defined standards, using a range of recognised non-destructive testing techniques within the boundaries of individual NDT qualifications.

- Responsible for all Quality Control and NDT activities within the limitations of an individual’s qualifications/experience
- Define all Quality acceptance standards and protocols
- Develop all Quality related competencies within the Service area
- Liaise with customer and customer representatives
- Ensure in process operations are carried out to the correct quality standard and review all deviations, monitor and assess all non-conformances
- Supports and develops manufacturing methods ensuring timely provision of relevant information, CMM programs and equipment
- Embed and support lean and other continuous improvement, Health & Safety, and environmental activities
- Operates in accordance with all current company procedures and policies
- Carry out a range of NDT testing using nationally and internationally approved testing methods and equipment
- Produce written reports on findings
- Estimate costs for carrying out tests (time, materials, equipment)
- Undertake any reasonable management request
- Coordinates and interacts with internal/external stakeholders, suppliers, and customers
- Advises on an ad hoc basis on own specialist areas of NDT/QC to other PC Engineers, Engineering, and customers
- Authorises the certification and release of components
- Authority to accept/reject products against specification/procedures
- Works within the limits defined within Company QMS Procedures
- Recommends/uses appropriate methods of testing/inspection
- May recommend stopping production/use of components pending further investigation, bearing in mind all possible consequences – costs, damage, dangers etc
- May be required to initiate follow up with Engineering Department to request advice to resolve inconclusive indications from testing (e.g. With Metallurgist)
What you bring
- A minimum of 5 years’ experience in a relevant manufacturing environment with a good understanding of key component features
- Proficient in the use of mechanical and CMM inspection equipment
- Good communication and teamwork skills
- Where applicable, PCN qualification in all required disciplines to a minimum of Level 2 is required
- For NDT inspections, extensive experience and job knowledge is required to be fully capable of fulfilling this profile and would normally require up to 10 years’ experience to be fully capable in all elements of the work
- Where required, PCN qualification in non-destructive testing to National Standard, covering testing in multiple disciplines to Level 2
- Continual assessment of competence for each discipline is carried out every 5 years by external authority, plus a requirement for annual log of ‘experience’ to prove ongoing practice of techniques
