A Snapshot of Your Day:
Join Siemens Gamesa Renewable Energy as a Health and Safety Specialist and play a vital role in ensuring the safety and sustainability of our offshore wind farm operations off the UK East Coast (Lowestoft). Lead the way in creating a safer, greener future by driving Health and Safety excellence on-site! We are looking for a Health and Safety Specialist, who will provide substantial support to our Offshore wind farm Service operations teams based in Lowestoft, and ensure appropriate health, safety and environmental arrangements are in place. The Environmental Health and Safety specialist will implement policies to ensure a safe and healthy work environment. This role will be responsible for collecting and reporting observations of near misses, accidents, incidents and deviations from agreed standards and efficiently report through the agreed communication channels. Ensure all Health and Safety incidents and occurrences are reported, investigated, corrective actions allocated, and incident workflow managed through to closure, as per Siemens Gamesa procedures and local legal requirements.
How You'll Make an Impact:
- Engaging with and promoting the "Zero Harm" EHS culture
- Supporting local engagement and alignment to the overall EHS strategic objectives
- Full and effective implementation of the company’s health, safety & environmental management systems
- Proactive monitoring, hazard identification and facilitating the implementation of effective control measures
- Partnering with operations management and employees to provide advice and guidance on legislation, standards, and local expectations/guidelines
- Communicating and collaborating with other EHS team members across the business to share learning and develop best practices
- Creating, developing, and assisting with delivery of EHS inductions and training
- Providing assistance in the completion and regular review of risk assessments
- Ensuring all accidents, incident, and near misses are recorded, reported, and investigated in accordance with company procedures and all corrective actions are identified, implemented, monitored and reviewed
- Ensuring EHS statistics and KPI’s are compiled, analyzed for trends, acted upon locally and shared throughout your department as necessary
- Ensuring all relevant health, safety and environmental records (e.g., records of thorough examination, risk assessments, training records etc.) are maintained
- Undertaking any reasonable activity that assists the business and the fulfilment of EHS related objectives
- Ensuring/promoting Lesson Learned and Knowledge sharing with other sites across the region
What You Bring:
- Passion for renewable energy and a sense for the importance to lead the change
- NEBOSH or equivalent level 5 / 6 EHS related qualification is preferable, or willingness to work towards in a reasonable time frame
- Previous EHS experience in an operational/engineering environment, ideally gained within a power service or other heavily regulated industry
- Demonstrable experience of providing pragmatic EHS guidance and problem-solving ability
- Demonstrable experience of working in a demanding, high-performance work environment and team-oriented collaborative culture
- Experience of dealing with regulatory bodies
- Ability to take control of a situation and manage unplanned events
- Ability to develop and maintain effective relationships, manage expectations & perceptions with internal and external stakeholders
- Be fully computer literate with mainstream software packages
- Full UK/EU driving license
- Willingness to travel
