A Snapshot of Your Day
As a Manufacturing Technician within our Manufacturing Engineering team in Lincoln, you will play a key role in ensuring product quality and conformity across our Small Gas Turbine manufacturing operations. Acting as a focal point for manufacturing quality activities, you’ll support both internally manufactured and externally sourced components, helping ensure products meet the required engineering and quality standards before and during assembly. Your day will involve hands‑on inspection activities, supporting manufacturing teams with quality‑related issues, and helping drive continuous improvement initiatives across the shop floor. Working closely with Manufacturing Engineers, Cell Managers, operators, fitters, and Quality teams, you’ll contribute directly to product integrity, operational performance, and customer satisfaction.
How You’ll Make an Impact
- Carry out detailed dimensional and visual inspections on manufactured and externally supplied components using precision measuring equipment such as calipers and micrometers.
- Verify product conformity against engineering drawings, technical specifications, and quality standards to ensure components meet operational requirements.
- Identify, document, and support the resolution of non‑conforming products, helping reduce non‑conformance costs (NCC) and improve manufacturing quality performance.
- Support root‑cause investigations and corrective actions for manufacturing quality issues, working collaboratively with production and engineering teams.
- Monitor process capability and support quality assurance activities including first article inspections, key feature measurements, supplier surveillance, and final inspections.
- Operate and maintain inspection and test equipment to validate component integrity and performance.
- Maintain accurate inspection records and quality data to support reporting, analysis, and continuous improvement activities.
- Support Lean Manufacturing and process improvement initiatives to enhance operational quality, efficiency, and consistency.
- Provide guidance and support to operators and lower‑level employees on inspection techniques, quality standards, and best practices.
What You Bring
- Minimum of a time‑served apprenticeship, NVQ Level 3 in Engineering, or equivalent technical qualification.
- Experience working within a precision manufacturing or engineering environment with a strong focus on quality inspection and quality control.
- Strong ability to read and interpret complex engineering drawings, specifications, and technical documentation.
- Proficiency using a range of manual and digital precision measuring equipment including calipers and micrometers.
- Knowledge of quality management systems, inspection processes, and manufacturing quality standards.
- Experience supporting root‑cause analysis, troubleshooting, and continuous improvement activities within manufacturing operations.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to work collaboratively across manufacturing and engineering teams.
- Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing, process FMEA, SAP, or statistical process control would be advantageous.
