We are excited to offer an exceptional 1-year Internship opportunity designed specifically for students who are looking for a placement position. At Siemens Gamesa, we are looking for motivated interns to join our team, where you will have the chance to apply your academic knowledge, develop new skills, and contribute to impactful projects. You will work within the Electromagnetic Team to develop high-fidelity electromagnetic finite-element (FE) models for large direct-drive offshore wind turbine generators. A typical day may include preparing simulation setups, running electromagnetic analyses, evaluating model outputs, comparing results with historical generator test data, and refining modelling workflows. You will collaborate with experienced electromagnetic engineers, gaining exposure to industrial-scale electrical machine design and validation activities.

How You’ll Make An Impact

  • Conducting simulations to evaluate machine performance characteristics such as flux distribution, torque production, inductances, and losses.
  • Comparing FE results with historical test data to assess the accuracy and consistency of the models.
  • Assisting in documenting methodologies, assumptions, results, and validation metrics for internal engineering use.
  • Contributing to continuous improvement of simulation approaches, analytical robustness, and engineering traceability.

What You Bring

  • You must be studying for a degree in Engineering, preferably Electrical & Electronic Engineering (EEE).
  • A passion for renewable energy and a sense for the importance to lead the change.
  • Good knowledge of MS Office Suite, including Excel and PowerPoint.
  • An understanding or experience of general electrical engineering concepts, i.e., electrical machines, power-electronics, electromagnetism, etc.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills with a positive ‘can-do’ attitude.
  • Ability to communicate within a team and across all levels, including customers, suppliers and external stakeholders.
  • Be proactive and self-motivated, with the ability to set priorities and manage to tight deadlines.
  • Ability to work methodically and independently where applicable.
  • An eagerness to learn and a can-do attitude.
