A Snapshot of Your Day
As an Onshore Wind Turbine Service Technician Apprentice, you will pursue a level 3 qualification (equivalent to NVQ). The course is titled: Maintenance Operations & Engineering Technician. You will receive training in all facets of the wind turbine service technician role, including industry standard safety training and safe ways of working. During the first year of your apprenticeship, your primary base will be at our partner training provider located in Scunthorpe, where you will undertake General Electrical/Mechanical training in both practical and theory-based sessions. In years 2 & 3, your learning will primarily be hands-on experience working with our service team on site, at the site to which you have been recruited.
How You’ll Make An Impact
- Execute ordinary and extraordinary maintenance and troubleshooting inside the wind turbines.
- Perform defined technical tasks such as integration of components to a system, basic engineering, maintenance jobs, and support customers remotely and onsite.
- Coordinate and accomplish defined service operations and/or resolve product issues for customer equipment.
- Diagnose and repair complex electrical, hydraulic, and mechanical components.
- Complete critical safety and quality documentation and work within our safety procedures.
What you Bring?
- At least three GCSEs or equivalent at Grade 4/C or above, including Mathematics, English Language, and Science.
- Live within a 45-minute drive from Clyde Wind Farm (ML12 6RL).
- Hold a full UK driving licence before an offer of employment can be issued.
- Be at least 18 years old by September 2026.
- Be comfortable working at heights.
- Be willing to work shifts.
- Show strong enthusiasm and long-term commitment to the apprenticeship and the company.
- Have a genuine interest in engineering, technology, and the environment with good basic manual skills.
- Possess effective verbal and written communication skills.
- Be a self-starter capable of working independently or as part of a team.
What else do I need to know?
If your application is successful, you will be offered an initial 42-month fixed-term contract of employment subject to you successfully passing:
- A practical ‘Working at Heights’ assessment.
- A medical and fitness test.
- Evidence of valid right-to-work documentation, a driving licence, and relevant exam certifications.
