A Snapshot of Your Day
As an Offshore Wind Turbine Service Technician Apprentice, you will pursue a level 3 qualification (equivalent to NVQ). The course is titled: Maintenance Operations & Engineering Technician. During the first year of your apprenticeship, your primary base will be at our partner training provider in Scunthorpe where you will undertake General Electrical / Mechanical training in both practical and theory-based sessions. In years 2 & 3, your learning will primarily be hands‑on experience working with one of our service teams on the Harwich site. You must live within a daily commutable distance of Harwich to be considered.
How You’ll Make An Impact
- Execute ordinary and extraordinary maintenance and troubleshoot within wind turbines.
- Perform predefined technical tasks such as component integration, basic engineering, maintenance jobs, and support customers remotely and onsite.
- Coordinate and accomplish defined service operations, resolving product issues for customer equipment.
- Troubleshoot and repair complex electrical, hydraulic, and mechanical components.
- Complete critical safety and quality documentation and work within our safety procedures.
What you Bring
- At least three GCSEs (or equivalent) at Grade 4/C or above, including Mathematics, English Language, and Science.
- Live within a 45‑minute drive from Harwich.
- Hold a full UK driving licence before offer of employment.
- Be at least 18 years old by September 2026.
- Be comfortable with and able to work at heights.
- Be willing to work shifts.
- Show strong enthusiasm and long‑term commitment to the apprenticeship and company.
- Demonstrate genuine interest in engineering, technology, and the environment, with good basic manual skills.
- Have effective verbal and written communication skills.
- Be a self‑starter with the ability to work well independently or as part of a team.
What else do I need to know
If your application is successful, you will be offered an initial 42‑month fixed‑term contract of employment subject to successfully passing the following:
- A practical Working at Heights assessment.
- A medical and fitness test.
- Evidence of valid right‑to‑work documentation, a driving licence, and relevant exam certifications.
