Overview

A Snapshot of Your Day: We are looking for an Offshore Wind Turbine Service Technician, to be part of a permanently employed travelling technician team. You will be able to carry out all of the duties associated with the service and scheduled maintenance of Siemens Gamesa Renewable Energy (SGRE) wind turbine generators. You will deliver excellent service while ensuring compliance with SGRE internal processes and procedures, UK and/or overseas Legislation, EHS and Quality. The role will involve flexibility between service and other scheduled maintenance roles across the year. This is a travelling role, and technicians will be expected to travel throughout the UK and overseas, including Europe and the Asia Pacific region. You must be willing to work on an SOV with a varied shift pattern depending on site requirements.

What You’ll Make an Impact

  • Active safety leadership when in the turbine and in the Wind Farm – ensure correct reporting of incidents and accidents, near misses and unsafe acts and conditions. Ensure compliance with Siemens Gamesa standards and UK legislation in relation to EHS, Quality and Service delivery.
  • Delivery of scheduled and unscheduled maintenance at site and preparation and execution of work packages / tasks to be carried out in a safe, efficient, and timely manner.
  • Remote diagnosis of turbine faults and support technical supervision of critical tasks as required.
  • Aid in managing any occurrences on site following the emergency response protocol.
  • Support for the welfare of technicians whilst on site and escalation of any issues relating to PPE, transportation, and equipment and assist in control of safety briefs and any incidents on site in accordance with emergency response plan.
  • Fulfill responsibilities regarding EHS, Quality, and Technical documentation to ensure adherence to site-specific compliance standards. e.g. Work Instructions, Risk Assessments and Method Statements
  • Maintain customer and contract obligations, follow site rules, provide on-site support, and assist with operational issues and visits.
  • Maintain efficient timescales for delivery of service activities to assist in the creation of daily, weekly plans for site teams as in conjunction with Service Planner / Service Coordinator / Stores Operators if required.
  • Collaborate with 3rd party technicians, contractors, and sub-contractors to coordinate 3rd party projects, ensuring EHS compliance

What You Bring

  • A proactive approach to all areas of Health and Safety for both yourself and your team.
  • An electrical education at level 3 or above (e.g. NVQ 3/City & Guilds/HNC or equivalent.)
  • Previous experience of carrying out fault finding or troubleshooting on electrical systems highly advantageous.
  • Professional experience working on service and maintenance of electrical systems, preferably offshore.
  • Proven track record to safely motivate and lead a small team
  • A strong communicator willing to undertake assignments and work Individually.
  • Due to the location of the role and the role requirements, the successful candidate must have a valid driving license.
