A Snapshot of Your Day
High Voltage technicians are dedicated and responsible for the HV installation and commissioning of wind turbine projects in line with safety guidelines, project requirements, corporate methods, and industry legislative standards.
We are currently looking for technicians with a home country based out of UK, Germany, Denmark or Taiwan. You will be deployed to projects Worldwide (UK, EU and APAC) and follow a shift pattern of 2:2, 3:3 or 4:4 as per the business requirements. A flexible approach to travel and working away from home on a continuing basis is crucial.
The role will provide you with lots of variety, learning and development opportunities along with an outstanding team culture.
SGRE will develop candidates into HV specialists for wind turbine installation and commissioning, though relevant Offshore and/or Wind turbine experience is highly desired.
How You'll Make an Impact
- You will work across all project execution environments including pre assembly, installation and commissioning, your responsibilities will include HV cable pulling, electrical fitting, terminations, testing, commissioning of associated HV equipment and energization of wind turbines.
- You will hold yourself and others accountable for health and safety within the role and the team, encouraging the safety culture and accurate behaviours are upheld to ensure a safe working environment for all.
- You will follow HV procedures, keeping, and maintaining accurate records and documentation of all work activities undertaken according to company policy is essential.
- You have a high level of focus and attention to detail always, with the ability to consistently deliver the quality product that our customers rightly require.
- Once fully trained as a High Voltage Technician for SGRE, you will be responsible for training, mentoring, and sharing knowledge with trainees and colleagues alike.
What You Bring
- Candidates must be "electrically skilled" and will have the appropriate electrical industry training and qualifications, such as NVQ Level 3 or higher, C&G 2357, Electro technikermeister or equivalent (in line with EN-50110-1).
- You must have minimum 3 years electrical experience (with work references), preferably working with med-high voltage systems and procedures.
- A high level of health and safety focus with experience of working with safe systems of work. The ability to work as part of a team and/or on own initiative and have the ability and confidence to work at height.
- You will be a strong communicator, with proven ability to successfully interact at different levels in a large organization and where necessary taking into account different cultures.
- A minimum of 5 years relevant electrical/ offshore/ wind industry experience with employer references is highly desired.
- Desired but can be provided: Offshore Medical (Good level of fitness), relevant GWOs and HV-specific training (Switchgear, Transformer, Nexans, NKT)
About the Team
You will join a diverse and highly skilled team, located across multiple countries (UK, Germany, Denmark, Poland, Romania and Taiwan). The team currently consists of over 40 HV colleagues within Offshore Construction for Siemens Gamesa (part of Siemens Energy, Wind Power division).
When deployed you will form part of the project team either on Pre-Assembly, Installation or Commissioning, reporting to site-management and working alongside technicians and colleagues within other fields, to construct our turbines safely and to the correct quality and standard.
