Senior Quality Engineer – Projects

A Snapshot of Your Day:

This role can be based anywhere in the UK provided you are comfortable with frequent travel. Valid UK driving license is needed. As a Lead Quality Engineer (Projects) at Siemens Energy, your day revolves around ensuring the highest quality standards across all project phases. You start with a team stand‑up meeting to align on priorities and address any immediate concerns. Your role includes leading quality assurance resources, conducting supplier quality surveillance, and collaborating with customers to resolve quality issues. You assist Work Package Managers in preventing failures and closing non‑conformance reports, while also organizing training sessions on quality methodologies like FMEA and 8‑D methods. Continuous improvement is a key focus, so you conduct internal audits and document lessons learned to enhance processes. The day concludes with a report to the Project Director, summarizing achievements and planning for the next steps.

How You’ll Make An Impact:

  • Lead quality assurance resources on the project and supervise quality inspection resources.
  • Collaborate with customers regarding Quality to ensure timely resolution of issues to their contentment and address all external quality concerns, such as registration bodies and Industry bodies.
  • Ensure and reporting of appropriate activities regarding the Quality management of the Project.
  • Assist the Work package managers in failure prevention and NRC closure and other quality issues as they arise, ensuring the provision of quality training as required to project staff.
  • Have an oversight on quality supplier selection and ongoing surveillance/monitoring activity for the project.
  • Carry out effective planning and management of day‑to‑day tasks across the team, both pro‑active and re‑active, such as auditing, inspections, lessons learned, leading continuous improvements activity and CAPA during the project lifecycle.
  • Identification of qualification shortcomings and training of project employees with regard to quality, looking at knowledge of methodology such as risk analysis, FMEA, review techniques, cause‑effect analysis, 8‑D method and process awareness such as role, content, benefits for subsequent process stages etc and also specialist knowledge such as IT by initiating corresponding measures (e.g., training courses).

What You Bring:

  • 7 years+ of relevant experience mentioned below:
  • Substantial experience in a senior operational quality position such as a senior quality engineer working in a project office environment.
  • Hold a lead auditor qualification and NG Persons or similar.
  • Substantial experience of working in highly supervised industries and in a matrix organisation assisting in the delivery of large infrastructure projects.

The high performing Quality Team in the UK consists of Quality Managers and Quality Engineers who support the Project Entity and the Grid Technology & Grid Services (GTGS) businesses. Within these there is a wide portfolio of prestigious projects including substations, HVDC interconnectors and wind farm connections, Grid Access, Flexible Arc Transmission and synchronous condensers. The Quality Team also work closely with colleagues in the Environmental and EHS Teams.
