A Snapshot of Your Day
As a Project Engineer within the operations team at Materials Solutions, Worcester, you’ll play a key role in defining manufacturing methods for our additive manufacturing business. You’ll collaborate with technical and engineering teams on new product development, support production teams with problem-solving, and ensure all processes meet quality, safety, and customer requirements. This is a hands-on, technical role where you’ll have ownership of products from development through to serial production.
How You’ll Make an Impact
- Follow defined techniques, SOPs, work instructions, and processes to ensure quality standards are consistently achieved.
- Collaborate with technical and engineering personnel on new product development and processes.
- Ensure adherence to health and safety requirements at all times.
- Contribute to problem-solving in manufacturing, reporting and documenting any deviations.
- Support resolution of daily production issues and drive continuous improvement.
- Support component development using the APQP process.
- Provide engineering support for NPI projects, hosting cross-functional sessions and facilitating APQP activities such as risk assessment, FMEA, PAPP, and control plan development.
- Create and maintain quality plans, part structures, and technical manufacturing instructions to ensure compliance with customer specifications and internal standards.
- Support capability studies and lead root cause investigations into manufacturing issues, documenting lessons learned.
- Take technical ownership of development, pre-serial, and serial production products, including managing product deviations and maintaining yield requirements.
- Develop and communicate technical instructions, including to subcontract operations, to fulfil customer requirements.
What You Bring
- Working knowledge of new product introduction (NPI) methodologies and experience delivering validation packages to external customers.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office packages and ERP systems, preferably SAP.
- Ability to interpret customer specifications and drawings, translating requirements for manufacturing teams.
- Experience with problem-solving tools such as 3C and 8D.
- Fluent in English, with the ability to follow verbal and written instructions.
- Resilience and adaptability in challenging environments.
- Methodical, self-motivated, and committed to continuous improvement.
- Strong team player who can also work independently.
- Excellent communication skills.
- Experience in high-volume production manufacturing and running development programmes.
