Purpose of Role
As part of the Siemens Energy Erection and Commissioning (E&C) team, the Planning Engineer will focus on sales-phase project scheduling for complex power transmission projects. You will create and maintain detailed project programmes, identify risks, and support robust build sequences to ensure achievable and competitive delivery plans.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform project scheduling during the bid phase for turnkey power transmission projects.
- Build, customize, and update settlement schedules with more than 4,000 activities using Primavera P6.
- Regularly update schedules considering project management methodologies and reporting requirements, including critical path analysis, milestone trend analysis, earned value management, and deviation analysis.
- Detet deviations from plans and develop appropriate countermeasures to mitigate risk.
- Collaborate with technical advisors to ensure robust and achievable build sequences are agreed by all parties.
- Support project risk mitigation and drive confidence in achievable, competitive programmes.
- Maintain accurate documentation of project schedules and amendments.
Key Skills & Experience Required
- Technical qualification or training with extensive professional experience in project scheduling.
- Strong knowledge of scheduling, resource and project planning, project controlling, critical path analysis, and network engineering.
- Proven experience interfacing with engineering, manufacturing, installation, and commissioning teams.
- Proficiency in PRIMAVERA Enterprise P6 and/or MS Project.
- Experience with EPC projects, ideally in power transmission.
- Experience working on construction sites and understanding practical project delivery challenges.
- Intercultural experience and effective team collaboration skills.
- Right to work in the UK.
Team Overview
The internal E&C team consists of 14 members, delivering scheduling and planning support across Substations, FACTS, and HVDC builds in the UK&I. The team plays a key role in implementing a sustainable power supply strategy, with responsibilities extending from technical planning to risk management and programme optimization.
