A Snapshot of Your Day As a Senior Quality Engineer (SQE) at LSS Newcastle, you will support the Head of QEHS in maintaining, developing, and improving the Quality Management System (QMS). Your role involves ensuring compliance with internal procedures, ISO 9001, Siemens Energy Process Procedures, and customer requirements while playing a key role in documentation control, supplier management, structured problem‑solving, and process assurance within a heavy machining and manufacturing environment. Your expertise will be vital in conducting audits, leading quality engineering activities, and collaborating with various stakeholders to drive quality excellence.
How You’ll Make an Impact
- Support the Head of QEHS in maintaining and improving the LSS Newcastle QMS to ensure compliance with ISO 9001 and internal procedures.
- Conduct internal and process audits, leading key quality engineering activities such as documentation reviews and problem‑solving initiatives.
- Assist Manufacturing through in‑process audits and monitoring adherence to process requirements, ensuring high‑quality standards are met.
- Collaborate with the Supply Chain on supplier assessments, vendor approvals, supplier audits, and witness inspections to maintain supplier quality.
- Create and review Inspection Test Plans (ITPs) and Manufacturing Inspection & Test Plans (MITPs) for internal use and customer requirements.
- Maintain quality documentation and customer deliverable packs, ensuring accuracy and compliance with standards.
- Support the development and maintenance of digital systems for reporting and quality performance monitoring.
What You Bring
- HNC/HND in engineering (preferred) and a minimum of 5 years’ experience in a similar Quality Engineering role.
- ISO 9001 Lead Auditor training is preferred, along with proven internal auditing experience.
- A background in heavy machining or heavy manufacturing is essential.
- Strong understanding of ISO 9001 and QMS governance, with proven experience conducting internal audits and managing audit programs.
- Competence in FMEA, SPC, MSA, PPAP/FAI, CAPA, and structured problem‑solving.
- Strong communication and stakeholder engagement skills, high analytical capability and attention to detail.
