As the demand for energy sector infrastructure is rapidly increasing, we are looking for an experienced Civils Quantity Surveyor to join our growing team based in Newcastle Upon Tyne.
How You'll Make An Impact
- Production of pre‑tender estimates for the civil construction work elements of project bid submissions
- Identification of value engineering solutions during the tendering and delivery phase
- Production of bills of quantities and or schedules of works for civil engineering elements of work for the purposes of producing subcontract work packages
- Development and collation of subcontract work packages for civil engineering and building works
- Analysis of construction drawings issued during delivery as part of a design and build procurement route comparing against information used to produce the original tender submissions
- Input into the risk evaluation during bid preparation and throughout project delivery for civil engineering elements of the works
- Providing support to the project commercial team undertaking review and analysis of incoming subcontract claims; including collation of relevant documentation and appropriate evidence/facts, through to satisfactory conclusion
- Support in developing and improving contract and claim management processes and strategies
- Liaising with stakeholders within our customer, subcontractor and joint venture organisations where applicable
- Benchmarking historical project data for the purposes of informing current and future estimates, bids and cost modelling
- Input into lessons learnt analysis and feedback from completed projects / projects in flight
What You Bring
- Experience in quantity surveying / estimating with a Civil Engineering bias
- Familiarity with a variety of Construction and Engineering Forms of Contract; experience with the NEC Contract preferable
- Ability to accurately undertake measurement and quantification of construction works with a sound working knowledge and application of Standard Methods of measurement e.g. CESMM
- Experience with the integration of M&E + Civil construction technologies would be advantageous
- Experience compiling pricing and scope / works information documents for subcontracts
- Experience in project budgeting, financial management of risk, opportunities and claims
- Familiarity with BIM and drawing management software
- Demonstrable relevant experience in the construction industry / formal qualification in Quantity Surveying
- A collaborative and team‑oriented approach
- Good analytical and problem‑solving skills
- A willingness to share knowledge to further develop team strength and capability
