This role is part of a strong and caring global team of approximately 15 communications experts covering more than 35 countries. You will be responsible for media relations particularly for the UK, but also supporting other European countries with an emphasis on Scandinavia, Western and Eastern Europe. The position is critical for driving Siemens Energy's corporate positioning and increasing media impact in strategic European focus countries, with a strong focus on the UK media landscape, directly supporting key business objectives.
The role is structured around three core areas:
- Strategic Media Engagement: developing and executing proactive media strategies and activities, and managing reactive communications;
- Content & Narrative Development: creating compelling stories and messaging for a European audience;
- Stakeholder & Agency Management: building relationships with media and working with PR agencies.
Day to day, you will work internationally with colleagues across the business and with our corporate press team, ensuring internal alignment and translating corporate messages into stories that make an impact. The ideal candidate will be a subject matter expert with extensive experience in media and public relations, crisis communications, and strategic communication. A proven ability to manage complex projects and influence stakeholders across diverse European markets is essential for success in this role. Experience working in the energy or technology sector is also beneficial.
Responsibilities:
- Develop and execute integrated media relations strategies and activities to enhance Siemens Energy's positioning in the UK and other key European markets.
- Act as a key spokesperson and primary point of contact for tier-one media outlets across Europe, with a strong focus on the UK.
- Manage reactive media inquiries, lead crisis communication efforts, and prepare senior leadership for media interactions.
- Monitor, analyze, and report on media coverage and campaign performance to measure impact and inform future strategy.
- Craft compelling narratives, press releases, briefing documents, and other written materials for external audiences.
- Adapt global corporate messaging for regional and local relevance across diverse European countries and cultures.
- Ensure all external communications content is high-quality, accurate, and adheres to brand and style guidelines.
- Build and maintain strong, productive relationships with key journalists, editors, and media influencers.
- Manage the selection, onboarding, and performance of external public relations agencies in various European countries.
- Collaborate closely with internal business partners, country communicators, and leadership to ensure consistent and aligned messaging.
- Coach and review the work of lower-level professionals or team members as a subject matter expert.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Communications, Public Relations, Journalism, or a related discipline.
- Recognized subject matter expert with extensive experience in corporate communications or media relations, typically gained in a multinational B2B or technology environment.
