A Snapshot of Your Day

As a Controls Engineer within our Small Gas Turbine business, you will be part of a specialist engineering team responsible for controls design and customer order engineering for the SGT-300 and SGT-400 product lines. Your day will involve working closely with internal stakeholders and customers to define control system requirements, develop and configure control solutions, and support the delivery of advanced gas turbine control systems. You’ll contribute to the ongoing development of our Siemens Simatic PCS7, Allen-Bradley ControlLogix, and TIA Portal Safety System platforms while supporting testing, commissioning, cybersecurity development, and technical troubleshooting activities across a range of customer projects.

How You’ll Make an Impact

  • Work closely with internal and external customers to define turbine control system requirements and develop tailored engineering solutions.
  • Support the research, development, and maintenance of Siemens Simatic PCS7, Allen-Bradley ControlLogix, and TIA Portal Safety System standard control solutions.
  • Support the research and development of industrial cyber-secure HMI PCs and networked systems.
  • Configure and develop hardware and software control system designs to meet customer and project requirements.
  • Support the supply and delivery of turbine control system hardware, software, and supporting engineering documentation.
  • Provide technical support for development programs, customer helpdesk activities, and field/site-related issues.
  • Participate in customer witness testing activities and support successful project delivery.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary engineering teams to support continuous improvement and product development initiatives.
  • Support occasional travel requirements for customer meetings, testing, or technical support activities.

What You Bring

  • Degree, HNC/HND, or equivalent qualification in Electrical, Control Systems, Automation, or a related engineering discipline.
  • Experience working with industrial control systems, PLCs, or DCS platforms within a manufacturing, power generation, or process industry environment.
  • Knowledge or experience with Siemens PCS7, Allen-Bradley ControlLogix, and/or Siemens TIA Portal Safety Systems would be highly advantageous.
  • Understanding of control system design, software configuration, industrial automation principles, and networked control environments.
  • Exposure to industrial cybersecurity concepts, HMI systems, or networked industrial systems would be beneficial.
  • Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting skills within technical engineering environments.
  • Good communication and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to work collaboratively across teams and customer interfaces.
  • A proactive and flexible approach with a willingness to learn and support a variety of engineering activities.
  • Willingness to undertake occasional business travel as required.
