A Snapshot of Your Day
As a Craftsperson you’ll contribute to the day‑to‑day tasks of assembly, wiring and testing of HV Switchgear Components & ancillary equipment. Supporting the delivery of various contracts, in line with business unit targets and budgets. Attend customer sites to carry out repairs/maintenance/installation of HV switchgear and ancillary components.
How You’ll Make An Impact
- Operate as part of a multi‑skilled team on a wide range of products.
- Have experience of wiring control panels, circuit breakers etc. from various forms of wiring diagrams.
- Have experience in mechanical and electrical testing of various switchgear ranges.
- Have the ability and flexibility to work on new and refurbished products from engineering drawings.
- Ensure the application of good working practices, adhering to QHS&E procedures.
- Be expected to work overtime and/or shift work to achieve production targets.
- Be expected to attend/carry out duties at various customer sites when required.
- Ensure housekeeping standards are established and maintained within the various sections of the Service Centre.
- Contribute towards promoting innovation to continuously improve productivity.
- Assist in the recording, measurement and resolution of all quality issues.
- Participate in the training and development of the Service Centre team.
Main Duties
- Deliver products and equipment to customers’ satisfaction (quality and delivery).
- Contribute towards reviews on manpower and workshop priorities and make recommendations to the Service Centre supervision.
- Deliver allocated tasks in line with the production plan.
- Report engineering/quality issues to the Supervision Team.
- Participate in and promote innovation and continuously improve the productivity of the team and the working area.
QHS&E Duties
- Ensure the application of good working practices and adherence to QHS&E procedures/standards and operating procedures.
- Assist in the recording, measurement and resolution of all quality issues.
- Ensure risk assessments are carried out when required.
- Ensure housekeeping standards are maintained.
Staff Development
- Undertake training necessary for the role and self‑development.
- Participate in the training and development of the Service Centre team.
- Support the development of apprentices.
What You Bring
- Craft apprenticeship, achievement of NVQ/SVQ level 3 or equivalent.
- Craftsperson must be able (with correct training) to operate Fork Lift Trucks, Pendant Cranes and Mewps.
- Work from Wiring Diagrams, schedules & schemes.
- Assembly and wiring of cubicles.
- Mechanical assembly of electrical components.
- FLT License.
- Crane License.
- Experience of wire checking/fault finding on control panels.
- Experience in a manufacturing / assembly environment.
