AUTOMATION ENGINEER A Snapshot of Your Day As an Automation Engineer at our Hull Blade Manufacturing Facility, you will play a vital role in supporting the continued growth of automated manufacturing processes. Working at the forefront of renewable energy production, you will be responsible for maintaining, troubleshooting, improving, and commissioning advanced automation systems that keep production running safely and efficiently. No two days are the same. You could be programming Siemens PLCs, diagnosing complex electrical and network faults, commissioning new automated equipment, or collaborating with engineering teams in Denmark and across the global business to deliver manufacturing improvements. Your expertise will help maximize equipment availability, reduce downtime, and support the production of world-class wind turbine blades. How You'll Make an Impact: Program, configure, troubleshoot, and commission Siemens PLCs and control systems using TIA Portal. Investigate and resolve complex faults across PLCs, drives, HMIs, electrical systems, and industrial networks. Support daily manufacturing operations by providing technical expertise and rapid fault resolution. Lead or support Factory Acceptance Testing (FAT), Site Acceptance Testing (SAT), and commissioning activities for new equipment. Create, review, and align technical specifications for new automated manufacturing systems. Design and implement upgrades to existing equipment to improve safety, compliance, reliability, and performance. Manage PLC backups, software version control, and engineering change control processes. Collaborate with global engineering teams, suppliers, contractors, maintenance, operations, procurement, and EHS teams. Develop technical documentation, work instructions, risk assessments, and compliance reports. Drive continuous improvement initiatives that enhance manufacturing efficiency and equipment reliability. What You Bring: Degree in Automation Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related discipline, or HNC/HND with significant relevant industrial experience. Advanced knowledge of Siemens PLCs and automation systems. Strong experience using TIA Portal for programming, maintenance, and troubleshooting. Proven experience with drive technologies, HMI systems, and industrial control systems. Strong understanding of industrial networking, BUS systems, and Ethernet/IP communications. Experience designing, maintaining, improving, and commissioning automated equipment within a manufacturing environment. Hands-on experience supporting production operations and minimizing equipment downtime. Knowledge of FAT/SAT processes, equipment implementation, and machine upgrades. Understanding of Functional Safety requirements, risk assessments, and compliance standards. Awareness of Lean Manufacturing principles and continuous improvement methodologies. Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities with a structured approach to fault finding. Experience managing engineering change control processes and PLC backup systems. Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to work across global teams and external suppliers. Experience creating technical documentation, work instructions, reports, and engineering records.
