Overview
As an AM De-Powdering Technician, you will be responsible for safely and efficiently removing residual powder from 3D-printed metal parts. Your day will involve operating de-powdering systems, handling and disposing of metal powders, and ensuring that all components meet the highest quality standards. You’ll play a vital role in maintaining safety, cleanliness, and precision in a cutting-edge additive manufacturing environment.
Responsibilities
- Operate de-powdering equipment, including automated systems, vacuum units, and manual tools.
- Safely handle and dispose of metal powders in line with company and regulatory standards.
- Inspect parts post-de-powdering, checking for quality and identifying defects.
- Maintain a clean and organised de-powdering area to prevent contamination and optimise workflow.
- Carry out routine maintenance and troubleshooting of equipment.
- Document all work accurately, including batch records, inspection results, and powder usage.
- Collaborate with production, quality, and engineering teams to support smooth operations and process improvements.
- Adhere strictly to health and safety procedures, including correct PPE use and safe ventilation practices.
Qualifications
- Previous experience in additive manufacturing or post-processing (preferred but not essential).
- Familiarity with handling metal powders and applying safety protocols.
- Strong attention to detail and manual dexterity.
- Ability to work independently and within a team environment.
- Basic computer skills for documentation and reporting.
- Physically capable of lifting and handling components and equipment.
- Experience with metal AM technologies such as SLM, EOS, or Renishaw desirable
- Knowledge of quality control standards and inspection techniques desirable
- Understanding of lean manufacturing principles desirable
