Product Lifecycle Manager
Join the SGT Product Lifecycle Group as a Product Lifecycle Manager in Lincoln, envision leading a product strategy from its initial conception to its eventual retirement, launching new and enhanced options that remain competitive in the market for both new customers and the service fleet. Take ownership for the product to guarantee optimal performance and ensure the highest levels of customer satisfaction.
By examining fleet performance, competitors, mentorship from sales & marketing, regions, and Customers, the PLM suggests new development/improvement activities to the Engineering and R&D group to guarantee the product meets performance critical metrics, intake/growth targets, and product cost targets throughout the entire product life cycle.
PLM ensures product strategy is reviewed at regular intervals during the product lifecycle and makes product development budgetary requests, supports case development, and develops new program proposals in conjunction with the Product Owner and engineering to create strategies to improve fleet profitability and to support growth, protection and decarbonisation of the total fleet of their designated product(s).
What You\’ll Do:
- Drive resolution of product technical quality and field service issues through root cause analysis and field implementation, enhancing product reliability.
- Accountable for product lifecycle costs and achievement of cost targets, including Productivity and cost-cutting measures (Design to Cost)/to maximise profit in collaboration with PLC Target Costing manager.
- Own and manage the R&D budget for your assigned project portfolio, ensuring alignment with overall product vision and strategy.
- Evaluate technical risks and propose mitigations, contributing to the sales Technical Limits of Authority (TLoA) process.
- Provide detailed technical support to sales, including participation in customer-facing meetings and representation at major technical events.
- Support manufacturing, project management, and service functions on technical questions, driving product cost reduction and achieving cost targets.
What You\’ll Bring:
- Degree in Engineering and 10+ years of proven experience in Product Lifecycle Management, Bid Management, Manufacturing, or R&D Project Management.
- Strong background in Core Development and Engineering, with expertise in Package Design and Product Portfolio Management.
- Excellent communication skills to provide technical support and engage with customers effectively.
- Ability to manage budgets and drive cost reduction initiatives, including Design to Cost strategies.
- Familiarity with technical documentation and external technical authority product approvals (e.g., Lloyds, DNV).
- Willingness to travel 15-20% of the time to meet customers, partners, and SE regions/hubs.
