You will lead and support a growing team of Bid Managers responding to complex, high-value customer tenders across the HVDC, GLS, and Synchronous Condenser portfolios. Your day involves shaping bid strategies, reviewing proposal documentation, coordinating with cross-functional experts, and providing guidance to ensure compliant, high-quality submissions. You will collaborate closely with internal stakeholders, engage with customers, and ensure each bid aligns with commercial, technical, and strategic objectives. Every day brings opportunities to influence major projects and contribute to the success of the UK & Ireland organisation.

Responsibilities

  • Provide leadership, coaching, and development to a team of Bid Managers, ensuring high performance and continuous improvement.
  • Allocate bid resources effectively across multiple portfolios to meet growing business needs.
  • Lead the end-to-end management of complex tenders, ensuring submissions are compliant, compelling, and strategically positioned.
  • Develop winning bid strategies, including value propositions, competitive positioning, and commercial approaches.
  • Drive cross-functional collaboration with Sales, Engineering, Legal, and Finance to ensure cohesive proposal development.
  • Analyse bid outcomes, gather insights, and implement improvements to strengthen future proposal success.

Qualifications

  • Extensive experience in bid or proposal management, ideally within high-voltage energy, power generation, or related industrial sectors.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead, coach, and develop a team, with proven experience managing direct reports.
  • Strong commercial and strategic acumen, with the ability to shape competitive, customer-focused proposal strategies.
  • Proven ability to manage large, complex tenders from strategy through submission, ensuring quality and compliance.
  • Excellent communication, stakeholder engagement, and influencing skills across technical and commercial teams.
  • A degree in Engineering, Business, or a related field, and the ability to translate technical information into clear, compelling proposal content.
