Senior Design Engineer in Manchester

Responsibilities

• Work with the team lead to deliver the Primary engineering design by adhering to the process and the Business strategy.
• Prepare technical specifications of Primary Equipment, design layouts, civil guide drawings, loading calculations, and Design Intent Documents.
• Review and comment on equipment suppliers’ offers.
• Monitor engineering delivery progress as per the engineering programme of the project, escalating issues to the team leader as required.
• Demonstrate collaboration, communication, ownership, and accountability to positively contribute to the team.

Qualifications

• Extensive design experience (7–9 years) within the Electricity Transmission and Distribution industry, preferably with experience in the UK market.
• Degree in Electrical Engineering.
• Good knowledge of layout and Primary Equipment for substation projects up to 400kV.
• Fully conversant with the latest Transmission and Distribution standards and technologies.
• Fully conversant with Health & Safety standards (including CDM regulations) applicable to the design of High‑Voltage substations.
• Proficient in checking the primary design on 3D models.
