Siemens Energy Transmission Services deliver systems to the energy industry that provide for safe operation and monitoring of power systems and equipment using a range of innovative products. Transmission solutions predominantly for the UK market. We are the centre of competence for AC offshore substations for Siemens Energy, hence extending our remit to the global Offshore AC substation solution requirements for Siemens Energy globally. On DC technology, we work collaboratively in mixed teams with Siemens Energy in Hamburg to develop solutions and deliver DC projects in the UK.

This exciting role will be part of the UK Erection and Commissioning (EC) team reporting directly to the EC Operations and Planning Manager. Whilst we have a fantastic flexible working policy, there will be a need to be in our Manchester office on a regular basis. We are looking for an experienced Erection & Commissioning bid manager to support Siemens Energy Transmission Solutions (EC) to deliver comprehensive plus competitive mechanical, electrical & commissioning site installation estimates.

Liaising with the bid capture team fostering a collaborative relationship with inter-department proposals, commercial, operations, engineering, quality, planning, and procurement colleagues.

How You’ll Make an Impact
  • Point of contact and responsible for the coordination of site related topics within the bid team.
  • Define the best setup for the site project execution together with the Pre-Delivery Manager and develop the estimating program and produces estimates based on collected contractual data, financial requirements plus the scope of work and services.
  • Analyses specifications, including scope documents, drawings, blueprints, bills of material, plus historical data, calculate project costs using labour and material pricing schedules.
  • Prepares the estimation by the work breakdown structure and code of accounts.
  • Maintains close liaison with and provides necessary input to planning and scheduling.
  • Work closely with cost controllers to monitor project costs and produces preliminary cost curves for client information.
  • Evaluate site related project risks, scope changes, contract values, cost trend impacts, field order and trade-off studies.
  • Attend Lesson learned workshops and integrate findings into fresh bids.
  • Negotiations with Customers, Subcontractors and Consortium Partners.
  • Preparation of Q-Gate documentation and presentation to EC Management for release of project cost and risk exposure before bid submission.
  • Work with your mentor to develop your knowledge base and participate in the high-performance programme.
  • Support the EC management team with additional tasks / improvement initiatives.
What You Bring
  • Sound Educational background GCSEs level 4 and above including Maths & English.
  • Previous internal site substation estimating role.
  • Minimum 5 years of experience working on substation / HVDC construction sites, preferably in a leading position.
  • Advanced knowledge of construction & commissioning concepts.
  • Excellent communication and organisational skills.
  • Proven ability to manage and meet deadlines & work under pressure.
  • Strong eye for detail.
  • Excellent planning and organising capability.
  • Initiative-taking and able to work with minimal supervision.
  • Full range of Microsoft office tools.
  • You are a strong team player and bring intercultural sensitivity, initiative, result, and quality orientation.
