Overview

As a Plant Maintenance Electrician, you will play a key role in ensuring the reliability and safety of electrical systems across the manufacturing site. Your day will involve fault finding, repair, and maintenance of a wide range of plant and equipment, supporting efficient production and minimising downtime. You\’ll work both independently and as part of a skilled maintenance team, contributing to a high-performing and safety-focused environment.

Responsibilities

  • Plan and execute assigned maintenance projects and electrical repairs.
  • Diagnose and resolve technical issues on site, ensuring minimal disruption to operations.
  • Carry out installation, testing, and servicing of electrical plant and equipment up to 415V, and support work on equipment up to 6600V.
  • Perform fault finding on electrical and electronic circuits and systems.
  • Read, interpret, and work from electrical/electronic circuit diagrams.
  • Conduct testing of electrical installations to current regulations.
  • Support the setup and commissioning of machinery and equipment for production.
  • Contribute to installation projects and collaborate with Industrial Engineers.
  • Maintain accurate technical documentation for processes and equipment.
  • Provide technical guidance and support to junior team members where required.

Qualifications

  • Time-served Electrical Modern Apprenticeship (NVQ Level 2 and 3 plus Technical Certificate C&G/ONC/HNC) or equivalent qualifications.
  • Post-apprenticeship experience in an engineering or industrial environment.
  • Full working knowledge of B.S. 7671 18th Edition Wiring Regulations and Electricity at Work Regulations 1989.
  • Proven experience in whole plant maintenance, ideally with an NVQ Level 3 in Engineering Maintenance.
  • Extensive fault-finding skills on electrical and electronic circuits.
  • Experience with PLC systems and CNC machine tool repair.
  • Competent IT skills for use with computer-based test equipment.
  • Mechanically multi-skilled with a safety-first mindset.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
