Your Role
As a Field Service Engineer, you will play a key role in maintaining, commissioning, and supporting Siemens advanced EV charging technologies. You will work on‑site to test, commission, and troubleshoot charging systems used for electric buses, e‑trucks, and other high‑demand transportation fleets. Your expertise will help ensure optimal system performance, resolve technical issues, and support product improvements. You will also provide training to customers and collaborate closely with engineering teams.
Your Responsibilities
- Perform repairs, corrective and preventive maintenance, and product modifications across the UK and occasionally within Europe.
- Produce clear and comprehensive test, service, and commissioning reports.
- Identify product improvement opportunities and propose technical enhancements.
- Oversee and ensure high‑quality work delivered by third‑party technical partners.
- Conduct on‑site commissioning activities, including Site Acceptance Tests.
- Provide first‑line technical support when not working in the field.
- Execute on‑site and remote I/O tests and measurements.
- Deliver on‑site customer training sessions.
- Diagnose and resolve failures affecting system performance.
- Support ongoing improvements of service documentation.
- Work with development teams to deploy, test, and validate new products.
Required Qualifications
- City & Guilds Level 3, HND/HNC, or equivalent technical qualification.
- Experience with commissioning and/or field service engineering.
- Strong knowledge of electrical installations and PLC systems.
- Excellent troubleshooting abilities.
- Knowledge of – or willingness to learn – EV charging protocols.
- Familiarity with CAN communication systems.
- Willingness to learn local and national safety regulations.
- Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics.
- Basic Linux command‑line knowledge (or willingness to learn).
- Valid driving licence.
- Willingness to travel, including occasional international work.
