This role combines the critical functions of leading the EMEA Application Engineer team, providing technical information to the VP Siemens EDA EMEA, and representing our technical leadership within the European Leadership Team (ELT). In doing so, the candidate must demonstrate strong technical and people capabilities, a broad knowledge of all EDA industry segments and competitors coupled with excellent communications skills and a proven ability to deliver results and on time.
The position can be further detailed as follows:
- Leading the European Field Application Engineers
- Manage a large and diverse, highly experienced, pan-EMEA team
- Engender a sense of urgency and lead the drive towards the technical uncovering of new opportunities
- Apply strong business orientation to focus the team on strategic and financial priorities
- Demonstrate analytical capabilities to predict, plan, and prepare for change
- Work across Siemens EMEA and world-wide technical leadership teams to plan most effective use of available resources
- Confidently represent Siemens EMEA technical team at European and Corporate management meetings
- Champion key issues and requirements and influence action through divisional management
- Provide timely industry and competitive updates to Mentors field adding commentary and insight where possible
- Help ensure EMEA successes are shared to motivate and educate the field
- Align with all Technical Teams across Siemens EDA (EMEA technical Teams, TSS Teams, PLM Teams)
- Align with all Portfolio Units (EDA Divisions) to ensure the technical requirements for EMEA are well represented and understood.
- Providing support to the VP Europe Sales
- Provide quarterly analysis and summary of the product level business, key technical, market, competitive and team issues at the ELT meeting
- Support VP in creating a high-quality MGR presentation and attend the events to provide technical backup and commentary.
- Provide executive summary of all worldwide presentations to ELT quickly after the event.
- Ensure the VP is aware of all critical and developing key issues and escalate them as needed to the appropriate divisional manager to closure
- Develop a broad and deep library of data and contacts from which to provide support for ad-hoc requests such as presentations, market, or competitive information
- Play a lead role in helping develop the EMEA business plan and take specific ownership for the technical, market and competitive sections of the EMEA business plan
- Overall, be the go-to person for the VP for any issues relating to Siemens EDA products, customer applications, EDA market and competition, technical team, and technical event support
- Deep understanding of the market and business environment to influence strategic decisions at the Portfolio Unit level.
- Able to provide and communicate a vision on strategic technical market trends
- Periodically review organization structure to align competencies with business needs.
Team Leadership & Development
- Lead, coach, and develop a high-performing team of Application Engineers, fostering a culture of collaboration, innovation, and continuous learning.
- Maintain optimal team staffing to support current and emerging products, ensuring resource allocation aligns with sales campaigns and future business needs.
- Facilitate the ongoing improvement of team processes and procedures, building alignment across Commercial Sales, Technical Sales, and Portfolio Units.
- Promote open communication, team spirit, and knowledge sharing to keep the team highly motivated and engaged.
- Provide coaching and training to support professional growth, monitor performance, and drive achievement through regular reviews.
Strategic Planning & Execution
- Collaborate closely with Sales Management and Account Teams to optimize account coverage and support growth objectives.
- Communicate and align technical team plans with commercial teams to ensure unified strategies.
- Coordinate cross-territory account strategies and oversee the technical implementation of plans.
- Oversee opportunity planning, prioritization, and development, including Target Account Selling (TAS) plan creation and resource alignment for long-term account growth.
- Drive new business development by expanding product usage and facilitating competitive replacements.
- Guide program plans to increase product penetration, adoption, and add-on sales, while defending the existing install base.
Collaboration & Customer Focus
- Lead collaborative initiatives with Portfolio Units, ensuring tailored solutions address specific customer needs and are leveraged across key accounts.
- Instill a collaborative mindset with other Siemens EDA and Siemens PL teams, including sales, support, services, and technical product AE teams.
Long-Term Vision & Growth
- Drive the long-term growth strategy for the technical sales organization, influence portfolio direction, and contribute to global business planning.
